Rachel Sarah Thomas is a vocal coach with a background in pop and musical theater performance. She studied in the classical voice program with Luretta Bybee at the University of Michigan and is now finishing her degree in Contemporary Voice and Composition at Roosevelt University.
After studying classically, she shifted her focus to contemporary music and original composition. In her recordings she has worked with Grammy Winners Tha Bizness and internationally renowned rapper Talib Kweli. She has songs licensed by the Adult Swim programming block on Cartoon Network as well as the Wrigley Corporation. She has opened for the likes of Femi Kuti at Millennium Park, Thievery Corporation at Milwaukee Summerfest, and K. Flay at the House of Blues. She also works with starbeat studios in Deerfield, IL lending her voiceover and writing skills to various nationally and locally syndicated jingles including Celebrity Scoop for WGN radio, American Weather-makers, and Tri-State Carpet and Floor.
She believes using the foundations of classical technique towards the stylized and emotional realm of pop & contemporary performance creates formidable singers. She is taking students of all ages and is happy to accept vocalists who want to work on writing their own songs.
